HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

Each of our artists manages their own clientele, so to inquire about booking an appointment, please email your chosen artist directly. Include the details of the piece you're hoping to get, like subject matter, size, placement on your body, and colour preferences. Some of our artists do all of their bookings on certain dates of the year. We’re all corresponding with a large number of clients in addition to tattooing, so give us up to a couple of weeks to get back to you. Contact information can be found on the Contact page, or use the Email button in each artist's gallery.

CAN I SEE MY DESIGN BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT?

In most cases you won't see your custom design until you arrive at the shop. We generally book enough time during your appointment for minor changes to be made if needed prior to starting your tattoo.

HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE TO GET TATTOOED?

You must be at least 18 to be tattooed at Fabled. Please come prepared with ID.

CAN I BRING A FRIEND?

As we are trying to keep numbers in the studio as low as possible, clients must arrive alone to their appointment and friends are not currently permitted to visit.

ARE YOU ACCEPTING APPRENTICESHIPS?

We are not looking for an apprentice at this time.

DO I HAVE TO WEAR A MASK?

Masks are now optional.

WHAT KIND OF INK DO YOU USE AND IS IT VEGAN?

All of our artists use high quality professional inks, sourced from reputable tattoo suppliers. Most, if not all, of our pigments are free of animal byproducts, and those who wish to be certain their tattoo is vegan-friendly can absolutely be accommodated.

WHERE DO I PARK?

There is ample free parking in the parking lot at our new studio space.

HOW MUCH DO TATTOOS COST?

The price of a tattoo is very specific to the piece. Our shop minimum is $100. Smaller pieces that can be done in one appointment will often be charged at a flat rate, while larger scale work is generally priced by the hour. Hourly rates can vary between artists. Your artist will need to know the details of the tattoo before giving a rough quote, and a consult is often required to make an estimate. Tattoos must be paid for in full on the day of your appointment. A deposit may be required to book.

HOW LONG DO TATTOOS TAKE TO HEAL?

Tattoos generally take several weeks to fully heal. It is important to keep your tattoo protected from bacteria, friction and sun exposure while it is healing. Avoid swimming for two weeks and be sure to follow all of your artist's aftercare instructions carefully.

DO YOU DO COVER-UPS?

This depends on several factors. Your artist can let you know if they are comfortable with the specific cover-up or if they have any recommendations for you. If an in-person consult is not possible, email your artist a good photo of the existing tattoo along with a description of what you are hoping to cover it with. The more flexible you are on the design, the more easily something can be covered or reworked. This is also true for scar cover-ups. A scar should be well healed before you get a tattoo over it.

DOES IT HURT?

Yep! Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, but the general consensus is that getting tattooed hurts. It’s a good idea to make sure you’re feeling your best for your appointment so that you’re up to the challenge.

DO PEOPLE EVER PASS OUT?

Yes. This can happen due to “vasovagal syncope”, a drop in heart rate and blood pressure caused when someone is particularly anxious. It can also happen if they have not eaten enough, causing low blood sugar. The best way to avoid a fainting episode is to stay as relaxed as possible and to make sure you have eaten a substantial meal and hydrated prior to your appointment. If you begin to feel lightheaded during your appointment, warn your artist immediately so that they can help you. Give your artist a heads up if you know you’re prone to fainting.

SHOULD I TIP MY ARTIST?

Tipping is a personal preference. While it is not required, it is certainly appreciated!

DO COLOUR TATTOOS FADE?

All tattoos fade with age, whether colour or black and grey. The better care you take of your skin, the better your tattoo will be preserved. UV exposure is the number one enemy of tattoos, so remember your SPF. Skin quality is also heavily affected by diet and hydration levels. Take care of yourself inside and out to get the most out of your skin and all the art you’ve worked hard to get!

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY TATTOO APPOINTMENT?

Make sure to get a good night's rest prior to your appointment day. Stay hydrated and eat something substantial shortly before you arrive. Avoid heavy sun exposure or excessive alcohol consumption leading up to your appointment. If you're considering using a numbing cream, let your artist know beforehand. Wear comfortable clothing that is easy to remove from the area to be tattooed. Remember there’s a chance ink will get on it. If you are particularly hairy in the area to be tattooed, it is fine to trim the hair short, but it is best to leave the razor shaving to the artist during your appointment.

DO YOU TAKE WALK-INS?

No. We don't have reception staff or a waiting room, and we often keep irregular hours, so we're not able to accommodate walk-ins.

DO YOU DO FREE TOUCH-UPS?

If needed, your first touch-up is free, within reason. If your tattoo has healed poorly due to gross negligence of care on your part, a touch-up will be charged at the artist’s discretion. Wait until your tattoo is fully healed before considering a touch-up.

WHAT IF I FORGET TO ATTEND MY APPOINTMENT, WILL BE LATE, OR HAVE TO CANCEL ON SHORT NOTICE?

Accidents and emergencies happen, but this may result in the loss of your deposit at your artist’s discretion. Remember, your artist is relying on your appointment for their income. You may be required to leave another, possibly larger deposit in order to rebook. If you’re running late, contact your artist by the method you generally use to communicate with them. Depending on how late you will be, this may affect whether the artist will still have time to tattoo you that day. If you are legitimately sick, we encourage you to reschedule. We will not allow anyone inside the shop if they arrive exhibiting symptoms of communicable illness and, as this would result in a short notice cancellation, your deposit would be forfeit.

CAN I GET TATTOOED WHILE PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING?

It is not recommended to get tattooed during breastfeeding, as your immune system is in a compromised state. If you are considering this, we encourage you to speak to your doctor about the risks. It is best to wait until your body is in optimal health before getting tattooed. We will not tattoo anyone while they are pregnant at the risk of harming the pregnancy.

WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?

For tattoo payment, we accept debit, Mastercard and Visa. We are currently not accepting cash, unless it’s for a tip directly to the artist. E-transfers are also only accepted as personal tips.
